Trickfilm Festival Düsseldorf

In 2020, Kilian van de Water founded the festival during the pandemic to showcase different facets of animation across the city. Using our shared office as one of the venues, I developed an interactive installation for the first edition. By coding a visual feedback effect, the installation captured passersby and split their movements into individual frames.
In 2021, we teamed up to grow the festival further. Thanks to support from Wacom, it became a free annual event. Hosted over several days at various venues international artists presented their work, led workshops, and held artist talks.
The program ranged from short films to abstract and generative video installations. While our goal was to display a wide variety of styles and techniques and explore the boundaries of animation as an art form and media.
